What's a makerspace?
What type of organization is Bozeman Makerspace?
Bozeman Makerspace is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
How long has Bozeman Makerspace been around?
Since 2011! We've been in our current location off of Love Lane since ~2019.
Does the makerspace have any full-time staff?
Nope! We are entirely volunteer-run with four volunteer officers and numerous other volunteers handling day-to-day operations.
How are you funded?
Almost entirely by membership dues. Donations are also welcome and appreciated.

10 Innovation Ln Unit D, Bozeman, MT 59718 (rear entrance of the building).
When is the Makerspace open?
We are open to the public on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Anyone can tour or use our non-restricted tools. Members have 24/7 access.

Membership
How much is a membership?
Standard: $50/month
College Age (18-25): $20/month
What does a membership include?
- 24/7 access to the space
- Use of all tools
- A personal storage locker (first come first serve)
- Discounted class fees
How do I become a member?
- Visit Thursday evening Open Build (6:30 to 8:00 PM) for a tour.
- If that time does not work, contact us.
If you are certain you want a membership (we can't blame you!), sign upĀ on our website and plan to attend the next Open Build to get your key fob and complete the walkthrough. Members must be 18+ and sign a release form.
How do I renew my membership?
Memberships renew automatically every month.
How long is a membership?
Month-to-month, with automatic monthly renewal.
I did not use my membership for a while. Can I get a refund?
No. Membership dues go directly toward keeping the space running, regardless of how often you visit. Since our costs continue month to month, we are unable to offer refunds for unused time.

Guests and Visitors
Can I bring a guest?
Yes! Guests must be accompanied by their hosting member at all times. All guests must sign a waiver located by the office door before using the space.
What can guests use?
Guests may use any non-restricted tools (tools not marked in red). Restricted tools are for trained members only.
Are kids allowed?
Yes, kids are welcome with their parents.
Tools and Training
What tools does the makerspace have?
A wide range, including woodworking (table saw, band saw, jointer, planer, CNC router), metalworking (TIG/MIG welders, lathe, milling machine), 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics, sewing, jewelry, vinyl cutting, and more. See the full list on the Tools page.
What do I need to be trained on?
Restricted tools, also called "red tools," are marked with a red sign or sticker. A training session is required before using any of these tools, regardless of experience. Most trainings take less than 30 minutes.
How do I book a training?
Post a request in the #class-requests channel on Slack.
Can tools leave the makerspace?
No. All tools must stay on-site at all times.
What if I break something?
Mistakes happen! Just let us know. Use the broken tool hang-tags and report it in Slack. Damage from normal use is free. Damage from extreme negligence may result in a fee.
Classes and Events
How do I find out about upcoming classes and events?
Check the online calendar at bozemanmakers.org, subscribe to the mailing list, or join our Slack.
Can I teach a class?
Yes! Anyone can teach a class on almost any topic. Contact an officer to set one up.
What is Open Build?
A weekly Thursday evening event from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, open to the public. It is a great time for tours, meeting members, and working on projects.
